    The Goa Chitra is a museum based in Benaulim in South Goa. It has a large collection of over 4000 artefacts focusing on Goas portuguese colonial past.     The Braganca House was built in the 17th century, 10 kms east of Madgaon in South Goa. The east wing has a small chapel with a relic of St. Francis Xavier alongwith the artefacts collected by the family over the years. There is a ballroom with antique chandeliers and heavily carved ornate rosewood furniture. The west wing of the house has exquisite furniture and Chinese porcelain from Macau. It also houses a collection of family portraits, dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The library is believed to be the first private library in Goa having 5,000 leather bound books.
