Bandhavgarh is the best park when it comes to probability of having tiger sightings. Bandhavgarh is accessible from Jabalpur (180 kms) / Umaria (32 kms) and Katni (100 kms) stations / Kanha (260 kms).
Besides the much celebrated and endangered tiger, the park is home to Leopards, Jungle cat, Wolf, Jackal, Indian Fox, Dhole or Indian Wild Dog, Sloth Bear, Common or Grey Langur, Rhesus Macaque, Antelopes, Gazelles, Blue Bull, Four gorned Antelope, Chinkara, Gaur. Bandhavgarh is also considered excellent for Bird watching and is home to more than 250 species.
Jungle Lodges in Bandhavgarh are situated around Tala range. Magdhi and Khitauli ranges are another alternatives for Guests who stay longer or are unable to procure permits for Tala range (which is a premium range). While multiple Tiger sightings are reported daily in all safaris in Tala, Magdhi and Khitauli also have had good Tiger sightings. Other wildlife such as Indian Gaur and Wild Dogs is sighted only on Magdhi. Leopard sightings are rare but happen mostly in Magdhi and Khitauli. Tala range has the best park experience and overall recommended over Magdhi and Khitauli but guests who are unable to procure entry permits could opt for Magdhi and Khitauli for a decent wildlife experience.
Safaris - Jeep Safaris are arranged by the jungle lodges (Morning and Afternoon safaris - 3-4 hours each). Entry Permits are limited and therefore its must to procure entry permits before planning a trip.
Seasonality - Oct-March is considered good for Wildlife. April - June (Till arrival of monsoon) is best for guests looking for Tiger sightings. Fewer waterholes mean that Tiger movements increase multifold and guests are able to sight Tigers more frequently than other seasons. Temperatures can go upto 45 degrees celcius in May and early June.
Open / Close - Park is open 16th Oct - June 30th.
