Rishikesh today is the White Water Rafting capital of India. Several camps are organised along the 70-km stretch from Rishikesh to Devprayag to Rapids have been graded according to the difficulty of their run.
Kaudiyala is a popular point and so is Shivpuri which are located about 30 kms from Rishikesh. Camps here conduct half day and full day rafting with Class III and Class IV Rapids with a lunch break in between.
These Camps are a popular Ex-Delhi / NCR getaways (Individuals and Corporates) where idea is to experience a bit of adventure.
Camps are set up between Sept and May (start date and end date is subject to water levels). Camps at Dev Prayag can undertake rafting in one of the tributaries of River Ganges (such as Alaknanda) till June.
Typically rafting happens in morning after breakfast and so an overnight stay at one of the camps with rafting is what guests prefer. However most hotels and resorts around Rishikesh also offer rafting as optional extras.
