River Trekking for bird watching
Pangot (7000 ft asl), 15 kms from Nainital and 40 kms from Kathgodam Railway station is an established Bird Watching destination and alongwith Corbett and Bhimtal / Sattal.
The area is excellent for wooded walks, treks and an overall nature centric experience. The area has many walking trails. Walks on the relatively flat Nainital - Pangot Road can yield excellent views and where one can find the wood owl. Kilbury Forest (3 kms) is also an excellent area for forest walks. River streams around Pangot are another area where one can walk / trek a bit alongwith spot some lesser sighted birds like spotted forktail.
Pangot as an area is where guests who want to be away from touristy Nainital and enjoy a quiet time arrive. Pangot is excellent for off-beat stays, ‘Do nothing” stays and is a must visit for travellers interested in walking / hiking / soft trekking
Recommended Stay Duration: 2-3 nights Season - Oct-Nov and March-May is good for walking.
