Understanding Spain - An Indian Traveller Perspective
Spain is situated on the South Western most tip of Europe and is surrounded by Mediterranean Sea on the west, Portugal at the western end, Atlantic Ocean on the east and south and France on its north. It has the most vibrant coastline with suitable weather, teeming nightlife, adventure sports, and history to be unravelled.
Bollywood has showcased Spain at its best in their movies recently and therefore become a popular destination for Indian travellers. Spain offers Islamic era architecture, self-drive tours, adventure sports, exquisite spas and some great food and wine. La Tomatina, the most liked festival of Spain, became all the more happening for Indian visitors as it was showcased in the movie "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara".
Barcelona and Madrid are two large cities of Spain and remain popular arrival points and most visted destinations. Sevilla is more laidback and where one arrives for architecture and nightlife. Granada set South of Spain is characterised by short, winding, narrow, and pedestrian friendly streets and is good for offbeat travellers interested in walking around.
Spain is recommended for mature travellers with a bit of interest in heritage, culture, wine and food. A week in Spain may seem enough for starters, however guests on self drive itineraries may spend more time exploring the countryside.
