Located in the heart of the Middle East, Jordan is a popular travel destination for Indian and Western Travellers. Jordan is visited for the UNESCO World Heritage site Petra, rocky canyons, golden desert, the fascinating Dead Sea, and monuments of the ancient era.

For centuries Jordan has been a land bridge linking Europe to Africa and Asia. The Greeks, the Romans, Muslim and Christian crusaders have all occupied Jordan at different periods in its history, each having left their own influence on the country’s culture and architecture. Jordan also holds a special Biblical significance; according to the Bible, it was here that Jesus was baptised, and Moses saw the Promised Land that lead to his death.

Jordan is also the land of lost cities. While the UNESCO World Heritage listed Petra is one of the world’s most famous lost cities, Jordan is also home to the magical ancient lost cities of Gadara, Jerash and Umm el-Jimal. Petra is a must visit for heritage travellers where they explore lost cities and ancient Roman and Nabataean ruins.

Jordan’s capital Amman is one the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities since the Bronze Age. However, it is far from stuck in the past. Amman has seen a remarkable transformation from a small historic town into a modern and global city on par with Dubai and Doha.

Jordan has an impeccable record for political stability, safety and is therefore a popular destination for transit stays for International travellers and an excellent short getaway for Indian travellers from Mumbai and Delhi which have direct connectivity from Air Jordanian.
