Cable Car at Chandi Devi Temple
Haridwar at 225 kms from Delhi is a Pilgrim town in the banks of river Ganga (also known at Ganges by Inbound traveler). Chandi Devi Temple, Mansa Devi Temple and Maya Devi Temple are highly revered by devotees as a Siddh Peetha, which is a place of worship believed to be where desires get fulfilled.
For general pilgrimage traveller, Har Ki Pauri is one that visited the most in Haridwar. Har Ki Pauri is a ghat on the river Ganges is the centre of attraction in Haridwar. Most pilgrms visiting Haridwar make it to Har Ki Pauri in the evening where the Aarti held is considered a spiritual experience.
Chandi Devi temple at 4 kms from Hari Ki Pauri is also is one that is well visited, more so because of the cable car experience that offers spectacular views of river Ganga. There is also an alternative 3 kms trek to the temple. Mansa Devi Temple can also be visited.
11th Century Mayadevi Temple is one of the three oldest temples in Haridwar and (other two being Narayana-shila and Bhairava Temple) and is considered one of the Shaktipeetha. The temple is located to the east of Har ki Pauri and is easily accessible by local transport.
There are several other temples of local importance in Haridwar.
