Queenstown in South Island of New Zealand is a renowned tourist destination and one of the most popularly visited destinations of New Zealand. Queenstown offers a large number of adventure activities what gives New Zealand the fame and Queenstown is famously known as the adventure capital of the world.

Queenstown is set around Lake Wakatipu (third largest in New Zealand) and many activities are centred around the lake. The activities on offer here include bungee jumping, sky diving, parasailing, paragliding, zip lining and canyon swinging, white water rafting, river boarding (swimming through the rapids of the river on a board), fly fishing and jet boats.

During winters there is skiing and snowboarding on offer here. Another activity unique to the area is snowshoeing, which gets you to explore the snowy mountains and wilderness on foot.

Skyline Gondola at Queenstown is a ropeway that offers spectacular views of the area. For nature travellers and walking enthusiasts there are a number of hiking and cycling trails around Queenstown. Horse riding and joy rides in helicopter are also possible. Guests also take a day excursion to Milford Sound (Fjords) via Te Anau area, which is renowned for walks and treks. Glenorchy is another area near Queenstown which are known for being locales for Narnia movies and Lord of the rings series and is where walking / trekking / hiking happens. Experiential travellers also head for Central Otago are from here for the world’s southernmost vineyards.

Queenstown itself is an area of pristine beauty and just being here and walking around allows guests to soak in and thoroughly enjoy a New Zealand experience. Queenstown is one destination where one regrets leaving irrespective of number of nights spent and is a must visit destination for any New Zealand itinerary.
