Tiger
Nagpur is surrounded by as many as 3 Wildlife Sanctuaries and even a possible 4th and 5th a little farther.
Upto 200 kms
Tadoba (Maharashtra) - 120-160 kms South of Nagpur in the Chadrapur District of Maharashtra. Has limited accommodations but renowned for its Tiger sightings. Moharli, Kolara and Navegaon gates are most popular for safaris.
Nagzira (Maharashtra) - 120 kms eastwards towards Raipur. Has only homestay accommodations and very limited safari infrastructure. Chorkhamara and Pitezari gates are most popular for safaris.
Pench (Madhya Pradesh) - 90 kms towards Jabalpur. Has extensive accommodations and one of the healthiest tiger population. Relatively newer park and most accessible wildlife flight getaway (None of the other parks with good getaway resort infrastructure and park infrastructure are less than 90 kms from an airport). Turiya gate is most popular for safaris,
Pench (Maharashtra) - 90 kms towards Jabalpur, has limited accommodation (MTDC). Guests from Turiya (MP side) can also do safaris in Silliari and Khursapar side, making them popular alternatives to Turiya.
Umred Karhandla (Maharashtra) - 60 kms from Nagpur and one of the newest tiger parks, having one of the best sightings but having limited accommodations.
Bor (Maharashtra) - 70 kms from Nagpur having limited accommodation (MTDC) and average sightings.
Above 200 kms
Melghat Tiger Reserve - 250 kms westwards in Maharashtra. Park Infrastructure is poor and therefore more known for the hill station / monsoon destination nearby, Chikhldhara.
Kanha - 250 kms (One takes a detour after Seoni on the Jabalpur Road). One of the best parks in India and known for its rare Barasingha population and healthy Tiger population. Resorts / lodges are situated at Kisili and Mukki ends of the park.
Seasonality - End Dec, Jan could be very cold and could turn foggy making early morning safaris, sightings that much difficult. Otherwise any other time during Oct - May
