Remote Himalayas
Ladakh is a union territory in North India having destinations at altitudes of 9000 to 15000 ft asl. Buddhism widely practiced and locals here are mainly from Tibetan and Central Asian Descent. Ladakh features barren landscales, riverside areas (Indus and Zanskar Rivers), Ancient Monasteries, High altitude lakes, Farms (Apple, Apricot etc.) and lots of sunshine (As it hardly rains here). This combination is a paradise for Landscape Photographers and one the most sought after destination for everyone with a bit of interest in photography.
Photographers in Ladakh pass through some of the highest motorable passes in the world and therefore are able to capture some of the clearest images of snow clad mountain ranges. The high altitude lakes comprise fresh water as well as salt water lakes that are as large as a state and with arid landscape and mountain ranges and clear waters present a pristine panorama for photographers.
Ladakh has some unique high altitude wildlife and wide ranging birds to photograph. Bactrian Camels are found here. Nubra Valley is a very curious mix of desert and valley of flowers. Incredibly one is able to capture both in a single frame.
High Altitude desert at Nubra Valley , Pangong / Tsomoriri Lakes, High altitude monasteries of Lamayuru, Offbeat character of Hanle (Eastern Ladakh) and drives in and around Leh is typically are highlights of a Ladakh photography experience and is a must visit for anyone interested in Landscape photography.
