Ladakh is a region in North East of state of Jammu and Kashmir having destinations at altitudes of 9000 to 15000 ft asl. Unlike in rest of Jammu in Kashmir, Buddhism widely practiced and locals here are mainly from Tibetan and Central Asian Descent.

The region of Ladakh is characterized by high altitude desert, arid landscape, green valleys, snow fed zanskar river flowing through, high altitude monasteries and nomad like sparsely populated tribal villages. The panorama that ladakh represents is unlike anywhere in India as it offers a spectacular views and therefore of great interest for photography enthusiasts.

Ladakh typically does not get much of rain and therefore has clear skies on most days. Photographers in Ladakh pass through some of the highest motorable passes in the world and therefore are able to capture some of the clearest images of snow clad mountain ranges. The high altitude lakes comprise fresh water as well as salt water lakes that are as large as a state and with arid landscape and mountain ranges and clear waters present a pristine panorama for photographers.

Ladakh has some unique high altitude wildlife and wide ranging birds to photograph. Bacterian Camels are found here. Nubra Valley is a very curious mix of desert and valley of flowers. Incredibly one is able to capture both in a single frame.

High Altitude desert at Nubra Valley , Pangong / Tsomoriri Lakes, High altitude monasteries of Lamayuru, Khardung La Pass and drives in and around Leh is typically are highlights of a Ladakh photography experience and is a must visit for anyone interested in Landscape photography.
