The Hill Temple of Palani is one of the most visited temples in South India. Palani temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga and is one of the Arupadaiveedu (abodes of Lord Muruga, other five being Tiruthani Murugan temple (50 kms from Chennai), Swamimalai (Between Kumbakonam and Thanjavur), Tirupparangunram (5 km from Madurai), Pazhamudircholai (10 km north of Madurai) and Thiruchendur (100 km south of Madurai, near Thirunelveli)).
Palani is situated 100 kms from Coimbatore and Madurai and can be visited enroute from Coimbatore to Kodaikanal or during a stay at Dindigul.
