Guwahati is capital city of Assam and connected most major cities of India. Guwahati lies by the giant Brahmaputra River.
Situated on outskirts of Guwahati, Pabitora & Amchang sanctuaries comprise 44 species of mammals and 250 species of birds. Wildlife include One-horned rhinos, Clouded Leopard, Elephant, Wild Dog, Hoolock Gibbon, Sambar and Barking Deer
Birds comprise Grater Adjutant Stork, Lesser Adjutant Stork, Kahlij Pheasant, Oriental pied Hornbill, Barn Owl, White Rumped Vultures and Hill Mynah etc.
Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary famous for having the world’s highest concentration of one-horned Rhino. Amchang wildlife sanctuary is where you may spot wild elephants, monkeys or deer, and a varieties of birds.
Pabitora and Amchang are open during Nov-April only. Brahmaputra Jungle Resort is situated on city outskirts is the best option to explore the sanctuaries.
