Nagarhole (Kabini) – A wildlife and bird watching destination
Situated at 200/220 kms from Bangalore and 60-80 kms from Mysore, Nagarhole (popularly known as 'Kabini") represents one of the best park experiences in India. Coracle ride, elephant training camp visit & elephant ride, boat ride, Jeep safaris comprise some of the activities in and around the park area.
Set around Kabini river reservoir, Nagarhole is a wholesome experience for guests.
Tiger and Leopards are spotted infrequently, however Bison, Gaur, Elephant herds and crocodile can be spotted in large numbers.
A high canopy of trees- up to thirty metres tall in some places- harbours rare birds such as the endangered Malabar trogon, the Malabar pied hornbill and the crested hawk-eagle. Jeeps safaris in Kabini are often a bird watchers delight and one able to spot easily number of species across length and breadth of the park.
Forest department conducts Jeep Safaris and Canter Safaris and Resorts here provide two safaris per day (Morning and late afternoon - 3 hours each). Elephant safaris are provided at the Elephant training camp.
