Monsoon Getaway

Picnic Garden at Pandav Caves

MP is renowned for its wildlife parks. However with Wildlife Parks being closed focus in Madhya Pradesh shifts to Nature centric options such as Pachmarhi.
Pachmarhi (Pipariya - 46 kms, Bhopal - 200 kms, Nagpur - 250 kms) comes alive in monsoon with waterfalls galore around it. Its also the time when off-season rates prevail with MP Tourism hotels and so its one of those rare times when you get to witness best in a destination at discounted rates.
Pachmarhi therefore becomes an excellent candidate for a 3-6 night train getaway (One can stay at Pachmarhi upto a week if idea is to relax and explore different points around at leisure).
Pipariya has limited seat quota and its always difficult to book a ticket in Summer. However during Monsoon its that much easier and so feasible as well.
Orchha (Ex-Delhi / Bhopal - 400+ kms by Shatabdi Express / Ex-Kanpur - 220 kms) / Ex-Gwalior - 110 kms)
Orchha in monsoon has a different feel to it. River is more active. There is option to visit the Wildlife Sanctuary and the unique riverside ambience having a fort, a set of ancient Hindu temples, cenotaphs and Jain Temples still remain intact for exploring. This combination makes it an excellent all-season weekend getaway destination.
Khajuraho (Ex-Delhi - Flight to Khajuraho or Train to Satna (130 kms) or Khajuraho)
For those looking for Luxury weekend option at a very low cost, Khajuraho is a good flight getaway option. Temperatures when its not raining are higher but the 5-star hotel ambience and amenities and bargain prices more than make up for that.
Ex-Bhopal Getaways (Delawadi (70 kms), Tawa Reservoir (75 kms),)
Tawa Resort, Tawa Reservoir, Halali Retreat, Halali and Jungle Camp, Delawadi are nature centric options that are well located and can be considered excellent getaways in monsoon as well.
