Lonar is the world's third largest crater filled with water forming Lonar Lake, saltwater lake 120 kms from Aurangabad. Crater was created by a meteor hitting the area and was discovered in 1823. 

Lonar attracts casual tourists as well as members of the scientific community from across the world.

The lake area is good for Bird watching in Winter and has several Interesting temples and monuments around it.
