Koynanagar is set on banks of lake formed on the dam build on Koyna River. Koynanagar is set at about 3000 ft asl lies at about 145 kms from Pune and 45 kms from Satara on the Satara / Karad – Chiplun (Coastal Maharashtra) route.

Koynanagar offers guests green surroundings and small resorts / camps that offer guests options to explore area around through some adventure activities (Kayaking, swimming, mountain biking, trekking) or bird watching.

Koyna offer pleasant weather all round the year but best season to arrive for nature travelers would be monsoon (June – Sept) when the whole area turns misty and spontaneous waterfalls spring up. For Bird watchers and adventure travelers Winters (Oct – March) is a good time.
