Chhatru Tea Stopover on Kaza - Manali route

Typically one arrives to Kaza via stunning Grand Canyon like Sangla - Tabo - Nako route and exits into Manali via Kunzumla (opens by 10th June) and Rohtang pass (Opens by 1st June).
Kaza - Manali route (200 kms) via Batal - Chhatru - Gramphoo is considered a biker’s dream and is considered one of the most stunningly beautiful and totally rugged stretch in the area.
Kunzmla Pass (15000+ ft asl) is extremely scenic offering close range panoramic views of the snow peaks. If one were to pass around mid-June then one would be required to literally wade through patches of snow.
Batal - Chhatru patch literally runs through riverbeds, glaciers and there is not semblance of habitation or connectivity here. There is no cellphone connectivity or there is not even a military shelter to seek refuse in case of any avalanche, inclement weather or vehicle breakdown. The drive is once in a lifetime experience for any adventure seeker.
During July-August one has an option to stop at Batal and even stay one night at Chandertal lake, a high altitude lake offering panoramic views. Batal - Chandertal lake is done on a 4-Wheel drive only and is something best left to an experience local. Its advisable to park own vehicle at Batal rather than risking it for Chandertal ride.
Note: Petrol Pump at Kaza is the last one for a while, so best to fill the tank before you leave.
Total distance covered: 200 kms (excluding Chandertal detour). Time estimated: 10 hours
Season: Between mid-June - Sept
