Kanheri – Ancient Caves

The Kanheri Caves are a group of rock-cut caves, within Sanjay Gandhi National Park at Mumbai. It is a popular day picnic for schools. There are 109 caves, of which a few are interesting. The caves date from the 2nd to the 9th century. They are excavated on the face of a hill.
The caves are open from 9 am to 5.30 pm. Additionally, there is a Lion Safari Park (Tues to Sun, 9 am to 5 pm) at Krishnagiri Upavan National Park near the caves.
