Beach Getaway
Ashwem, Morjim, Anjuna, Vagator are less crowded idyllic beaches of North Goa often referred to as the Off-beat North Goa. Guests here arrive to be away from the crowded beach stretches of Baga – Calangute – Candolim and kind of enjoy a relaxed countryside experience.
These beaches often were hippy bases (for which Goa was once infamous) right from 1970s to till late 1990s. With stricter law enforcements, rave parties and nude bathing is now a thing of the past.
These beaches still get visitors from all over the world looking for “Real” Countryside Goa and spend a few days. Anjuna and Vagator have seen a spate of new hotels and resorts built around it after year 2000 and therefore are becoming lesser-crowded versions of Baga – Calangute – Candolim. Whereas Ashwem and Morjim being on other side of Siolim River have retained Countryside Goa character and still is a predominantly patronized by overseas nationals.
Be the flee market in Anjuna or taking a Bike on hire and driving around these beaches of North Goa and then in the evening hopping into one of the shacks / bars / restaurants is still the kind of experiences that young travelers arrive to Goa for.
