Kaza (12000 ft asl) is base point to visit Ki Monastery. Ki Monastery is the biggest monastery of Spiti Valley and a religious training centre for Lamas. Ki Monastery is very significant for followers of Tibetan Buddhism and is one of the oldest ancient monasteries around.

Besides Ki Monastery there are several monasteries in the area having local significance but visited by tourists and followers of Tibetan Buddhism.

Kaza lies 50 kms from Tabo and is the largest town in the sparsely populated Spiti Valley. The area is extremely remote and accessible only between June - Sept.
