Harishchandragad Trek is truly among the best treks in the Sahyadris, it is often called the “The Hikers Paradise”. Trek is longer than average Sahyadri Treks and takes upto 6 hours.
The path, beginning from the MalshejGhaton road and to the base village, and the entire climb atop is full of post card perfect views. The plateau on top has a very old Shiva temple. It is believed that Pandavas (Mahabharata) visited this temple. A cobra head shaped 1200 ft black stone offers breathtaking views of the plains below and is one of the best views in the Sahyadris. Closer to the temple there are some lovely caves, which is often where trekkers camp overnight.
