Fishing in Sangla Valley
Sangla (9000 ft asl) is a beautiful valley with a riverside ambience and good mountain views all around. The area provides excellent views and is excellent for walks and trekking. Chitkul (24 kms) has great views. Guests can stay anywhere upto a week.
For the enthusiasts it is a treat to angle for trouts (Rainbow and Brown) in the crystal clear waters of the Baspa River in Sangla Valley. Day permits can be arranged from the local authorities. Basic angling equipment is available at the camp.
India's first trout breeding farm was set up in Sangla way back in 1926. Besides April, October is the best time to angle for Brown and Rainbow Trouts.
As the area doesn’t get too many interested in Trout Fishing, there are ample of areas to look at without having to worry about crowding. Fishing here is not prolific as it may be in Ramganga River in Corbett (Uttarakhand). However the Himalayan backdrop and the overall experience makes it compelling.
