Closer look at the Confluence
Devprayag (2000+ ft asl) is a riverside town situated about 70 kms from Rishikesh at the confluence of Alaknanda River (One of the tributaries of holy river Ganga) and is one of the Panch Prayag (five confluences) of Alaknanda River.
The Alaknanda offers rafting experience (especially for experienced rafters) and the surrounding hills are ideal for activities like rock climbing and rappelling. There are short day treks, scenic hikes and isolated glades full of birds and butterflies around Dev prayag.
Other than Sangam and Raghunath Ji Temple in Devprayag, one can visit nearby sacred places like Danda Naggaraja (Lord of Snakes) temple and Chandrabadni temple.
Devprayag as a destination is cut off, off the beaten track and not as much visited as perhaps Haridwar / Rishikesh. Stays here are simple and nature centric.
Devprayag also serves as a transit destination for pilgrims on the Char Dham route.
Recommended Stay : 2-3 nights Season-May-Oct (Char Dham), Apri-June (adventure)
