Darjeeling Heritage Train
Darjeeling Heritage Train is one of the four heritage train routes still operating in India. (Other three being Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Nilgiris (Ooty) and Matheran(Maharashtra))
Darjeeling heritage was the preferred route for travelers earlier to visit colonial hill station of Darjeeling and plantations towns around. Today, it’s less of a transportation medium and more of an experience and therefore recommended mainly for experiential travelers ((Takes about 7 hours by train instead of 3 hours it may take by a road journey).
New Jalpaiguri – Darjeeling route has only one train a day in morning. The train can be connected from Kolkata via one of the two overnight trains.
Plantations towns of Kurseong and Ghoom are connected via this train.
