Himalayan Hill Station
Darjeeling (About 7000 ft) is a renowned British era hill station and has been visited for many a decades by tourists and is one of the popular tourist destinations. For overseas guests the heritage train, the himalayan views, birding and plantations and a bit of walking around offers an interesting mix.
For the domestic tourist the cool weather in summer is the main attraction. Good Himalayan views all around except in summer (April - Sept) when it remains hazy during the day except early mornings.
Darjeeling has many residential schools and is now a popular getaway ex-Kolkata. Darjeeling is a crowded place and suffered from unplanned growth and therefore not recommended for tourists but not recommended for guests looking for a bit of space and experience of the area.
