Daman is a union territory on the edge of Gujarat and Maharashtra state borders on the west coast of India on the Arabian Sea at 3 hours drive from Mumbai. Due to its proximity to Mumbai and cities of South Gujarat, Daman is a popular local gateway. Alchohol is prohibited in Gujarat and so Daman is an easy option for revelers for its cheap liquor and good seafood.
Devka and Jampore beach are major tourist attractions along with forts of Moti Daman and Nani Daman and Jetty Garden. There is a church, old fort and some shopping areas. Beach is mostly black sand and sea is not perfect for swimming. Therefore Daman is more of a seaside local getaway and less of a beach destination.
Stay Duration: 2 nights ex-Mumbai. Local getaway seekers from Gujarat may just spend a night.
