Town area is one that got developed during the colonial Raj and areas in South Mumbai especially around Mumbai CST, flora fountain, Colaba etc. have a distinct colonial character about it with the area being full of pre-independence era structures.
Town area is also home to the Dalal Street (home of the stock exchange) and many other post-independence era buildings with a lot of modern history attached to it.
Sunday Morning City cycling trip around “Town” offers an insight into Mumbai’s history and its historic monuments minus the urban chaos. The 18 km cycling starts at Horniman Circle and covers St Thomas Church, Flora Fountain, Mumbai CST Station (UNESCO World heritage site) and many other prominent landmarks over 3 hours. Part of the trip is a hearty breakfast at a famous Irani bakery which is nothing short of an heritage cuisine experience.
