Buddhist Pilgrim Circuit in Orissa
Orissa is renowned for its Buddhist heritage sites (dating back to 6 BC) within 100 kms radius of Bhubaneshwar / Jajpur Road. Buddhist site escavations started in 1990s and some of the sites were completed in mid-2000s and that gave birth to Buddhist heritage circuit of Orissa comprising Ragnagiri, Pushpagiri, Lalitagiri and Udayagiri.
Lalitgiri: One of the most important regions of the Buddhist Circuit, Lalitgiri is an important excavation site where the most dated back sculptures of Buddha have been excavated.
Ratnagiri: Located in the Jajpur district of Odisha, the place is renowned for its stupas, monasteries and motifs.
Udaygiri: An esteemed Buddhist complex, Udaygiri was part of the Pushpagiri University, along with Ratnagiri and Lalitgiri.
Dhauligiri: Tourists arrive here to visit Shanti Stupa.
Other importance for Langudi, Tarapur, Kayama, Radhangar Fort and Deuli.
