Maasai Mara Game Reserve is widely considered to be Africa's greatest wildlife reserve. The Mara comprises 200 sq miles of open plains, woodlands and riverine forest.
Maasai Mara Game Reserve is also renowned for its birdlife. More than 470 species of birds have been identified in the park, many of which are migrants. Birds include vultures, marabou storks, secretary birds, hornbills, crowned cranes, ostriches, long-crested Eagles, African pygmy-falcons and the lilac-breasted roller, which is the national bird of Kenya.
Access: 7-8 hours from Nairobi.
Recommended Stay: Typically guests stay here for One or Two nights. Those on a relaxed itinerary or looking to explore park and surrounding area in greater detail stay upto a week
