Bird Watching | Resident and Migratory

Kanha represents one of the best park experiences in India. Kanha is accessed from Bandhavgarh (260 kms) / Jabalpur (165 kms) /. Raipur (250 kms) / Nagpur (250 kms).

Tigers and Barasinghas are why most guests arrive at Kanha. However Kanha is also home to more than 200 species of Birds, migratory as well as resident such as Black Partridge, Indian Peafowl, Lesser Whistling-duck, Spot-billed Duck, Common Teal, Brown-capped Pygmy Woodpecker, Serpant Eagle, Oriental Honey Buzzard, White Backed Vulture etc.

Kanha area comprises 4 Zones - Kanha, Kisli, Sarhi and Mukki. Kanha and Mukki Zone offer the best park experience for a bird watcher. Sal Forest, Grassland, Lakes and streams offer a diverse panorama and bird photography experience.

Nivalink Experience - 5 safaris in end March 2014 and we could spot and photograph 60+ bird species (Plus 14 species of Mammals including Tiger, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Jackal and Jungle Cat). Nov - Feb would be cooler and therefore birds come out more in open in the sun. So expect 100+ species in 5-6 Safaris in Nov-Feb period.

Safaris - Jeep Safaris are arranged by the jungle lodges (Morning and Afternoon safaris - 4-5 hours each).

Seasonality - Oct-March is considered good for Bird watching. Nov - Feb would be the best time.
