Dandeli is a renowned adventure getaway and visited for White water rafting, Kayaking and a rainforest experience. Dandeli is now renowned bird watching destination as well being home to more than 200 species. 
Birds here comprise great pied hornbill, yellow footed pigeon, crested serpent eagle, adjutant stork, black crested baza and peafowls. The Ganeshgudi area (16 kms from Dandeli where some of the lodges are situated) is where one finds a lot of birds such as Malabar Grey Hornbill and the Malabar Pied Hornbill let alone the flycatchers, orioles, babblers and the Shama.
October to about beginning March is excellent for migratory birds and a stay around at Ganeshgudi area is recommended for bird watchers.
