Almora (7000+ ft asl) is a Himalayan Hamlet in Kumaon at 68 kms from Nainital and 370 kms from Delhi. Binsar is a high altitude sanctuary situated at 22 kms from Almora.

Binsar has been declared an Important Bird Area by Bird Life International with over 200 species including Tits, Forktail, Nuthatches, Blackbirds, Parakeets, Laughing thrush, Magpies, Kalij Pheasant, Monal, Koklas , eagles, Woodpeckers and a range of others found here. 

There are number of resorts around Binsar that facilitate Bird watching in the area.
