Its appeal has transcended well beyond Sikhism and its now become an International tourist destinations and one of the must visit places for any first time travelers to India.
Golden Temple is not just a Gurdwara but a Temple complex. Bhajans-Kirtans (Devotional songs and music) and rituals around the complex and the entire time one spends in the complex is nothing short of an experience.
Convenient day-overnight trains-Flights from Delhi make access into Amritsar easy and therefore visited all round the year by Pilgrims not just from North India but all over the world.
Guests on a leisure trip visiting Golden Temple alongwith Dharamsala-Dalhousie-Palampur, also often make a visit to Wagah border (36 kms), the India – Pakistan border for witnessing the retreat ceremony (Evening).
Amritsar is also a destination for foodies (Amritsar Dhaba Cuisine is renowned) and old city shopping (Phulkaris and Juttis)
