Allahabad (110 kms from Varanasi and 200 kms from Lucknow) is situated at the confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers. As Ganges and Yamuna are revered in Hinduism, Allahabad attracts Hindu pilgrims. Allahabad is also the site where Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years. Kumbha Mela will again be held at Allahabad in the year 2013 (January 27 to February 25).
