Alibaug is a coastal town 100 kms South of Mumbai and easily approachable via a short ferry ride from South Mumbai (Gateway of India) to Mandwa (20 kms from Alibaug). Alibaug is the first beach South of Mumbai and most accessible and therefore most popular as a getaway. For Guest from Pune, Alibaug is the nearest beach (150 kms) at an easy drivable distance and therefore popular getaway
Alibaug is home to homestays, bungalows, mid-segment hotels and resorts, premium / luxury hotels and resorts to cater to all segments of travelers.
Beaches around Alibaug include Awas, Kihim, Varsoli, Alibaug beach and Nagaon. Varsoli and Nagaon are good idyllic beaches with some character. Kihim and Awas are rocky in character and Alibaug beach is most touristy of all beaches. Kihim and Nagaon has operators that offer watersports on weekends.
Alibaug is also home to some renowned restaurants serving ethnic cuisine, most notable being Sanman (located right on town center). Alibaug otherwise has a few sightseeing areas such as a museum, couple of temples, Sea fort (Colaba Fort) and some drives.
Alibaug experience does not live upto the fame it has but still has some interesting stay options and offers a compelling option being an easily accessible beach getaway ex-Mumbai/Pune for Individuals and Corporate groups.
