Rishikesh (250 kms from Delhi) has long been the adventure hub of India and White water rafting Capital of the country. There are number of camps setup around Rishikesh that offer trekking, kayaking, nature walk, bird watching etc. besides white water rafting, which is the main attraction here. Most Camps are situated at 15-35 kms upstream just off the Rishikesh Badrinath road. Points like Shivpuri, Kaudiyala etc have become known after adventure camps have bee set up here.
Tent accommodations typically have shared bathrooms and cottage accommodations have attached bathrooms. Only Camp Panther has a swimming pool. Shivashish Forest Camp also has some indoor games for recreation.
Above camps are excellent as adventure getaways and excellent for corporate groups looking for some adventure. Camps conduct half day and full day rafting with Class III and Class IV Rapids with a lunch break in between.
Some camps that are situated right on the banks wind up by end April or Mid-may (and reopen in October) as water level rises. Other camps that are situated a bit on a cliff stay open all round the year and double as transit stays for pilgrims on the Char Dham route.
