Windsor Lodge is an erstwhile colonial era hunting lodge
located is now a restored heritage hotel at Ranikhet (Uttaranchal,
India).
Windsor
Lodge is located at a vantage point on a wooded hillock with a
commanding view of snow-capped mountains, thick pine and cedar
forests and the sweep of the Ranikhet golf course. It is
located in Kalika Estate, in the village of Dadgallia.
Ranikhet,
a peaceful hill station at an altitude of 1829 metres, was
established as a cantonment town by the British Raj in 1869
and is still an important army town.
Always
a popular retreat, Ranikhet is a ever-burgeoning tourist and
getaway destination drawing visitors from the plains who come
as much for the undulating greens of the golf course as for
the spectacular views of the snow-capped Himalayan mountains.
Accommodation
: The spacious and luxurious suites and rooms in the three
restored buildings of this lodge retain all the charm,
solidity and dignity of a more gracious era, further recalled
and reinforced with the décor of period furniture. As it was
renovated from a state of ruins, while it retains its original
features, modern amenities and creature comforts were also
fully integrated. All the suites and rooms of this lodge
recall the grandeur of the colonial era. The spacious and
luxurious accommodation, with wood panelling walls, fireplaces
set in stone hearths and period furniture, exudes warmth and
solidity in total comfort.
