The Jetty : Full of fruit & vegetable sellers, coconut vendors and banana stealing goats. Otherwise a lazy meandering place dotted with small shops overlooking the crystal blue waters. 

The Market (# 3) : 4 km from the jetty.  Here is where the action is, from bananas to bright lit sweet stalls, from fresh veggies to fresh fish, from cold drinks to barber shops. Its a place of simplicity and wonder. 

Vijaynagar Beach (# 5) : 3 km from the market on the eastern side of the island is the home of The Wild Orchid - a long expanse of white sands that divides the lush tropical jungle and the aqua blue waters of the Andaman Sea. Its calm waters are both refreshing and relaxing. Here is where you can float in natural sea salts while surrounded by pristine nature. Still an undeveloped paradise, you can wander for miles undisturbed and in peace. 

Radhanagar Beach (# 7) : 21 km from the jetty on the western side of the island A great destination for a day trip and a picnic lunch. This picturesque beach is the photographer's dream. Open seas, white sands, crashing waves and beautiful sunsets. 

Elephant Beach : 12 km west of the market Another great day trip - either a 30 minute hike on a jungle path or a one hour boat trip brings you to this uninhabited beach with waters that are dotted with coral reefs and bright tropical sea life. A perfect snorkeling experience. 

Activities Offered by The Wild Orchid 

Snorkeling : The Andaman Islands are know for their unbleached coral reefs and crystal clear waters. So far about 200 varieties of corals have been documented from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, which is the highest in this part of the world. There are fringing reefs scattered throughout the territory and there are also many luxuriant coral banks in the adjoining open sea. Bright tropical fishes in many shapes and forms along with a vast number of amazing marine creatures are abundant in and around these coral reefs. Just to name a few: butterfly fishes, clown/damsel/anemone fishes, scorpion fishes, wrasses, parrot fishes, surgeon fishes and sea horses. Snorkeling trips are organized on request. Several different sites are accessible by boat from Havelock Island. We provide a packed lunch, snorkels/fins/masks are available on rent. 

Scuba Diving : We are proud to present our newest addition to The Wild Orchid... Diving in Andamans is a unique lifetime experience. The coastal water surrounding theses islands is the abode of one of the richest coral reef ecosystem is the world. The specialty is that, here the coral reefs and underwater formations are undamaged by human activity. Many of the islands are surrounded by fringing reefs, often several hundred meters wide and separated from the shore by a lagoon of similar width. There are also more steeply undulating hills of raven volcanic lava, which makes for some unusual diving. Large pelagics are plentiful in these waters, as are a variety of sharks. Fishing : Fishing trips are organized on request. Maximum 4 people per trip. Best time 4 pm to 8 pm. Moonlight fishing trips can also be arranged. Consists of 1 hour boat ride to/from fishing site. Can hook barracuda, snappers, groupers and many more. We provide you with bait, tackle, and line but you are welcome to bring your own gear. For the experienced angler - spear fishing and deep sea fishing can also be arrange on request (spearguns not available). 

Inter-Island Trips : A hot favorite amongst The Wild Orchid guests. These trips are organized for the more adventurous at heart. This is where you will be guided to an uninhabited island. You will spend your whole day in the midst of nature. By sundown you will return to The Wild Orchid. Please note, these trips are subject to permission from the local authorities. 

Jungle Trekking : Jungle treks are organized on request. You can trek through thick tropical rain forests of Havelock. You can experience first hand the rich vegetation and colourful bird/butterfly life. If you are lucky you may even spot a monitor lizard or a spotted deer. Our guides who accompany you are well versed in jungle lore and will gladly answer your queries to make your trek an interesting and memorable one. 

Outdoor & Indoor Games : Various means of entertainment are available on site such as library, movies, cards, board games, volleyball, badminton, frisbee and many more.
