Royal Residency The Royal Residency (Khengar Bhavan) built
adjoining the Palace was established in 1882 as the residency of the British Resident
in the ruler's minority Recently
augmented and renovated, this late colonial style building offers the royal guests
a choice of 12 authentically maintained suites with fine views - all representative
of a bygone era. Each of these suites are named after different ruling
princes, a viceroy, the Duke of Connaught, jeweller Jacques Cartier, Mahatma Gandhi's
father and the first Governor-general of India, all of whom have been friends
of the Wankaner Royal Family. The Royal Oasis
Beautifully nestled on the banks of River Machhu. the Motiwadi Royal
Oasis was started in 1875 but most of it was built between 1930 to 1940 in the
famous art-deco style. Once a retreat for the royals from the scorching
summer sun, the Motiwadi provides cool watery comfort for its guests.
The 12 luxurious suites are jewels in the crown making it an ideal holiday destination
for those who wish to experience nostalgie of byegone regal grandeur.
Situated in an orchard it has the unique attraction of the only "Vaav"
(step-well) built in the 20th century. Exquisitely carved it has 3 storeys underground
with fountains. It is ideal for spending a summer afternoon in a romantic honey-moon
