Leh is a
high altitude desert (9000 to 14000 ft) and visited during May-September for a
adventurous getaway. Leh does not have luxury getaway resort but there are still
a number of good options offering good views, relaxing and charming stay. There
are number of monasteries, lakes and high altitude view points around the area
which can be visited. Adventure activities in the area comprise white water rafting
which is conducted in Nimo which is accessible from Leh. Leh
during June-September is visited by overseas guests doing the Manali to Leh drive
which is considered one of the most scenic and adventurous drives in the world
and considered one of the must visit experience for the adventure oriented tourists. Ladakh
Festival during August is most famous and therefore is considered the peak season
for visiting Leh. Considering
that it takes a day to acclimatise in the high altitudes of Leh, its recommended
that one does at least 3 nights in leh (There are 10-11 night itineraries as well
that can be done given the time). For
