New Delhi is the capital city of India and a major tourist destination by itself (Qutab minar, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Lotus Temple, India Gate etc.).

If a 4 hour drive is acceptable then Shekhavati region (about 200 kms from Delhi) or Sariska or Agra or Bharatpur can be an excellent destination.  

Delhi itself can also be explored for Shopping for Crafts, leather and textile specifically but almost everything is available at locally popular Karol Bagh and the more touristy Connaught Place which are located centrally in Delhi.
