Day
1: Arusha
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival into Kilimanjaro Airport and after
clearing customs and immigration, you will be me by your Safari Legacy
representative who will transfer you to the New Arusha Hotel.
Day 2: Tarangire National
Park
Your first experience of safari life will be the thrilling drive through the
vastness of Tarangire National Park. Travelling through the park you
will marvel at the beauty of this pristine wilderness before arriving at our
own Kikoti Camp. Built on a ridge overlooking the park, Kikoti is a
superb location from which to explore Tarangire.
Day 3 & 4: Tarangire
National Park
We have an early morning departure with a packed breakfast, which will allow
us to make the most of our wildlife viewing before returning to camp for a
late lunch. Escorted by your safari guide/naturalist, a game walk in
the late afternoon will give you an intimate taste of life as an African
explorer before you take a refreshing sundowner on Kikoti Rock with some of
the best sunsets in Africa as a backdrop. An evening game drive in a
convertible vehicle will provide the opportunity to observe some of
Tarangire’s nocturnal wildlife before you enjoy your bush dinner and
retire at the end of an exhilarating day.
Day 5 & 6: Lake Eyasi
Today we take you to the shores of Lake Eyasi. Traveling via towns
such as Mto wa Mbu and Karatu we will have the chance to interact with the
Barabaig and Datoga tribes/villages before reaching the lakeshore. En route
you will stop for hot lunch at Plantation Lodge. Arrive at Kisima
Ngeda Tented Camp. With such comforts guaranteed, you are perfectly placed
to share the lives of the Hadzabe Bushmen escorted by Momayo Muhindoi.
Experiencing life through the eyes of such ancient peoples will give you a
privileged view of the lives of one of the last groups of authentic hunter
gather groups left in Africa.
Day 7 & 8: Lake Manyara
National Park/Ngorongoro Crater
Bidding farewell to our cultural hosts we will drive up to Lake Manyara
National Park for wildlife viewing. Thereafter, we drive to Ngorongoro
Farm House, which will be your home for the next two evenings.
The Ngorongoro Crater walls drop sheer for almost 2000 ft. before depositing
you in the middle of the greatest wildlife concentration in Africa. In
addition to these superb wildlife-viewing opportunities we will visit the
Olmoti Crater, high above the park floor, from which the Mungi river flows
in a magnificent picture perfect waterfall on its way to the crater floor
below.
Days 9-11: Olduvai Gorge /
Serengeti National Park
Today we head for the Serengeti, en-route visiting Olduvai Gorge, a river
canyon cutting 300 ft into the volcanic Serengeti plains, once home to our
earliest ancestors. Their remains can still be found nestling in the
exposed soils.
We descend to the Serengeti Plains. Part of the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem,
Serengeti National Park is home to the most famous wildlife spectacle on
earth, the annual migration of a million wildebeest. We use the
Seronera Plains for our camping in order to ensure year round access to some
of the most spectacular wildlife viewing on earth. You may also enjoy the
option of a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti Plains.
