Variations / Off the Beaten Track
  • An activity oriented rural retreat near Jodhpur like Rohetgarh or Chanwa Luni can be opted for an experience oriented (Village Visits, Horse Safari, Jeep Rides), off-beat itinerary

  • Manvar, a Desert camp mid-way on Jodhpur-Jaisalmer route can be considered instead of 1 night at Sam. Manvar is more private desert retreat than ones at Sam and provides a more profound Desert experience than a more touristy Sam.

  • Birding Enthusiasts may choose to stay at Sodakore at Mirvana Nature Resort

  • If idea is to enjoy desert experience but not travel as much then Camel Camp Osiyan Or Khimsar Sand Dunes Resort are good alternative to Jaisalmer providing a more private desert experience like Manvar.

Extensions
  • Bikaner (325 kms from Jaisalmer) can be considered as an extension. Bikaner is known for Forts and Palaces, Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary and Deshnoke Temple.  Bikaner is connected by Train with Jodhpur, Ahmedabad (Overnight), Jaipur(Overnight) and Mumbai(Overnight).
