Destination Information of Madhya Pradesh - Khajuraho

 

Khajuraho is a world renowned heritage destination known for its set of erotic temples. It is visited as a part of a heritage circuit alongwith Orchha, Gwalior and Agra and possibly Varanasi (Flight).  

There are three clusters of temples i.e. Western, Eastern and Southern. All are located within a short distance of each other and have religious significance for Hindus and Jains.

Temples

  • The Western Group, in town centre has 14 temples. . 

  • The Eastern Group, 3 kms from the Tourist Office, consists of seven temples (four Jain and three Hindu). 

  • The Southern Group, about 5 km from town centre, has 2 temples.

Activities

  • Light and Sound Show in the Evening is recommended.

  • End-Feb Khajuraho Dance Festival is held here and is very popular.

  • -  Wildlife Experience and Bird Watching at Panna (Day excursion)

  • Visit to Waterfalls, Diamond Mines and Ken Gharial Wildlife Sanctuary (Day excursion).

Conference / Groups / Offsite

  • - During Winter Inbound groups arrive in large numbers to Khajuraho. During Summer and Monsoon Khajuraho is a popular ex-Delhi flight Getaway for corporate groups. 

Guests typically arrive at Khajuraho on an Itinerary and is the starting or end point for the Tiger Circuit in Central India comprising Panna, Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench.

Access - Khajuraho is connected by air from Varanasi and Khajuraho. Typically visited as a part of Itinerary covering Agra, Orchha(170 kms). Varanasi (Flight), Panna (40 kms)  and even Bandhavgarh (260 kms).
