Karnataka Plantation Country Route
- Chikmagalur
(2 or 3 nights) - Malpe (2 nights) Highlight
- This is a classic short-break
that covers plantation region of Chikmagalur (3000-3500 ft asl laidback and off-beat in
character) and Malpe (A beach 70 kms from Mangalore and 10 kms from Udupi) Both Destinations are renowned ex-Bangalore getaways and
therefore can be combined to make it into a relaxing / activity centric /
Pilgrimage trip.
Chikmagalur
(3000-3500 ft asl) - Coffee plantations and forests combine to give a feel
that is a little different to Coorg. The area is less populated and
plantations are larger, surrounded with hills, forests and river
streams.
Trekking in the
mountains, Walking through the Coffee
Plantation, Bird Watching are popular
activities here. Guests can visit Halebid and Belur temples that are well
visited. Kemmanagundi hill station is also accessible from here.

things to do in Malpe.

above temples and more.
-
Subhramanya may
be visited after Dharmasthala before moving onwards to Chikmagalur.
However a stay at Sakleshpur is recommended in such a case instead of
Chikmagalur.

itinerary ideally between Chikmagalur and Malpe stays.
-
Rainforest
