JK - 08 - Srinagar Getaway

This is a a classic flight getaway for the Summers and Winters. Summers get visited for enjoying some good weather beating the heat in the plains. Winter is about enjoying the snow experience.

Expert View - Typically repeat visitors to Kashmir seeking a mix of luxury and relaxation, stay put in Srinagar at a lakeside resort while enjoying the lake experience and Kashmiri hospitality. Gulmarg and Pahalgam are more scenic but do not have personalised hospitality of houseboats and luxury of some of the lakeside hotels. Ideal for a romantic getaway ().

Access:  Srinagar gets direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Jammu.
Distance : Dal lake area is 15 kms from Airport and Nagin area is a few kilometers further away.
Seasonality - All round the year.

What to do - Activities here comprise Tour of the city by shikara, water skiing, swimming, surf riding and motor boating on the Nagin Lake. Guests may instead just relax and enjoy the view of the lake. 15 days a year (Around Mid-March to Mid-April) Tulip Gardens here bloom like the ones in Netherlands and this is a popular time for guests to arrive for a getaway. A day visit to Gulmarg and a Gondola ride from Gulmarg is also a popular day excursions for guests.
Recommended Stay : 3 nights to a week.

Recommended Accommodation Options - Full List

Dal Lake - Houseboats are excellent stay options. Houseboats in Dal Lake are categorised broadly into Deluxe and standard category. We only recommend deluxe or better category houseboats such as Meena Houseboat, Prince of Vale, Young Morning Star etc.

The Lalit Srinagar is the only heritage Grand option here which is top of the line option and represents the best and most luxurious hotels of Srinagar

Centaur Lakeview is an erstwhile ITDC Hotel. Both these have lake views and spreadout resort like feel. At these hotels guests arrive to savour the lakeside experience.

Nagin Lake - This is a more secluded part of Dal Lake which is preferred by the sophisticated travellers and honeymooners.

Dar Es Salam is a boutique hotel here (16 rooms) providing best of lakefront, personalised amenities and exclusivity.

Nagin side houseboats have an open area around where they are moored and so kids get a feeling of space and not feel cramped. Gurkha Houseboat, Wangnoo Houseboats and Zaffer Houseboats are the three recommended here for guests.
