Trekking (Apr
- Sept) - Pahalgam (7200 ft asl) offers day
treks and overnight trek options with beautiful himalayan backdrop all along.
Day hikes and treks involve walking the pine forest along the river
stream.
One of the popular
Overnight trekking option (4-5 days) is the
Kolahoi Glacier which goes via Aru.
The route to various
points to the Amarnath cave, and beyond, upto Sonamarg are widely trekked as
well. Camping equipment, guides and ponies are readily available. |

White Water Rafting
(Apr - Sept) - River rafting tourism has been introduced recently in the Kashmir
valley. Some private agencies have set up facilities for white water rafting in
Pahalgam. For a run of 2 kilometers on the Aru branch of lidder river |

Trout Fishing
(Apr - Sept) - The Lidder River has excellent
trout fishing beats for brown trout. The fishing season stretches from April to
September. Permits are issued, for a maximum of three days at a time, on a
first-come-first-served basis and are charged on a per day per rod basis.
Fishing equipment can be hired in Srinagar but it is recommended that guest gets
his own. Live baits and spinning are not allowed. Fishing permits need to be
organised in advance. |

Golf - Pahalgam
has a nine hole golf course at 2400 meters above the sea level. The equipment
could be rented from the Golf club.
