There is a touristy
itinerary that basically involves a Srinagar houseboat stay and moving around to
day visit rest of the destination. While this is not recommended from the point
of view of hours of road travel involved, but it still is done by those who want
to economise on stay costs.
Itinerary
for such a trip (This is an indicative itinerary, Sequence of the
activities can be customised as per season and guest preferences)
Day 1 : Srinagar : Arrive
in Srinagar by Flight (From Delhi or Mumbai).
Srinagar is famous for its lakes
dotted with Shikaras and the Mughal Gardens.Day at leisure, shikara ride to
Nehru Park in the evening, Overnight in the Houseboat/Hotel.
Day 2 : Srinagar : Excursion to the Mughal gardens
built by Emperor Jehangir. Also visit to the Shalimar bagh & Nishat bagh
other beautiful gardens located on the eastern side of the Dal lake. Overnight
in the Deluxe House Boat/Hotel.
Day 3 : Srinagar - Gulmarg – Srinagar :
Proceed for a full day excursion to Gulmarg, Meadow of Flowers (50 kms /2 hrs)
situated at an altitude of 2730 meters, full day at leisure to take the
leisurely walks on the lush green meadows of flowers with a backdrop of the snow
capped mountains. Enjoy pony ride or Gondola ride (rope way) to Khillanmargat
your own cost, back to Srinagar, Overnight in the Houseboat/Hotel.
Day 4 : Srinagar - Pahalgam – Srinagar :
Proceed by road to Pahalgam (100 kms/3 hrs) Valley of Shepherds. Enroute
you can visit the Saffron fields. Also visit Avantipura Ruins & Anantnag
Sulpher Springs enroute, Enjoy the bounty of Nature at Pahalgam, located on the
bank of beautiful Lidder River, back to
Srinagar, Overnight in the Houseboat/Hotel.
Day 5: Depart Srinagar : After breakfast, transfer
to airport for your onward flight back home.
