Baradari Palace, Patiala - 70 kms from
Chandigarh, Capital of Princely State of Punjab, rich in heritage and
history. Baradari Palace is now a
Neemrana Non-hotel and is the only
heritage hotel in town.
Ranjit's Svaasa
- Svaasa is an 18th century colonial
heritage mansion centrally in Amritsar. The feel of the mansion, its antique
collection and genuinely warm hospitality are highlights. Amritsar is
visited for the Golden temple.
Hari Niwas
Palace - Hari Niwas Palace is
an art-deco structure, converted into a heritage hotel in the year 1990.
Within the 50 acre palace complex also hosts the Amar Mahal Palace Museum.
The estate offers very good views of the area around and from here one can
do day visits in and around the area.
Dalhousie
- This was a getaway destination for the pre-independence Lahore and now an
idyllic hill station (6500 ft asl) and sports very good Hilamayan views
around. Grand View and Mount View are the twin pre-independence era heritage
hotels near Bus Stand. Silverton Estate is a smaller heritage retreat away
from the town.
Dharamsala /
Mcleodgunj - Twin towns that has quite a few heritage hotels, most of
them now managed by HP Tourism (e.g. Kashmir
House) . There are some other which fall in homely to idyllic category
(Such as Glenmoor Cottages, Chonor
House). White Haven Estate is a
plantation estate.
Palampur -
Tea Plantation country. There are number of heritage stays here none better
than Taragarh Palace. Tara
Villa Homestay is a homely plantation stay.
Pragpur - A
heritage village and Judges court, a
heritage home set with a very laidback and scenic backdrop. One can stay
anywhere from 2 nights to a week.
Nalagarh
- A heritage hotel, 20 acre estate, at
60 kms from Chandigarh and now right next to Baddi, the new industrial area.
Guest prefer to stay here to avoid a crowded and city like Chandigarh
stay.
Fort Ramgarh
- A Heritage hotel, at Panchkula
(Twin-city to Chandigarh). If a stay at Chandigarh is what is required then
Fort Ramgarh is where one can enjoy a bit of heritage while being not too
away from town centre.
