Dalhousie - Dalhousie (6700 ft) is a
British-era hill Station and a weekend getaway destination at 80 kms from
Pathankot, 200 kms from Jammu and 180 kms from Amritsar.
Dalhousie is known for
its very good himalayan views and still retains a quaint, idyllic, off beat
character. It snows often in Dalhousie in Winter. If
you do not find snow in Dalhousie in winter, you are most likely to find it
enroute to Khajjiar, a popular day excursion off Dalhousie.
On a clear day anytime
of the year, Dalhousie enjoys very good Himalaya views. Presence of colonial era
Cantonment areas and boarding schools gives it a colonial feel.
While Shimla wears a
concrete jungle look and Manali wears an organised holiday resort feel,
Dalhousie still retains the old world charm to it and which why it attracts
idyllic travellers as well as regular holiday travellers.
Hotel stays in
Dalhousie aren't most luxurious. There are some pre-independence era heritage
hotels for a heritage experience and a comfortable stay. Hotels with comfortable accommodation and bit
of luxury have started to come up lately.
